The children in Pragya Higher Secondary B. School, located in Kathmandu, chant this song as we walk through the hallways. It seems that cultural values are passed down from generation to generation even in the school systems. In several occasions, we saw young children, five to six years old, sing this song with all their energy, shouting as though it was the only thing that mattered to them. The message is clear. Young children should be good. Teachers, the country of Nepal, family, friends, elders, schools and friends… the message is love. Nepalese people have a way of caring for one another. Their authentic way of being is expressed in every aspect of their lives. What a beautiful way to be!
The preschool room was colorful and the students were engaged.
Class 3 student is correcting spelling on the board. We were surprised by the level of difficulty in each grade, Nepalese schools demand more of students earlier.
Here a teacher helps her students wash their hands during the school day. The bathroom is the room next door.
We loved this art lesson we saw posted on the wall~ We will "borrow" this idea back in America!
Nepali students sing with gusto and loud clear voices~ they are earnest in their studies.
The playground equipment at this private school was of much better quality compared to other schools visited~ We will never complain about our playground again! (By the way, those are the Himalayan Mts. in the background!)
