Welcome to Team Nepal's Website

Technology is vital to Team Nepal’s success. A project blog will help us share our journey with teachers and students at the schools and will give others who are interested a glimpse at our journey. We will attempt to capture the spirit of the project in our blog.

Upon returning to America, we will give a presentation to teachers and students at our school at the start of the 2008-2009 school year. Team Nepal will show a PowerPoint with pictures and video highlighting unique aspects of cultural competency during our trip. We hope to give our school community a glimpse into the rich and diverse culture of Nepal, geography, location, and many other salient facts.

One month after our return, we will conduct a live chat session using instant messaging with Nepalese teachers from various schools and teachers from our school to discuss why preserving cultural traditions is an important aspect of teaching and what teachers at their schools do to accomplish this.

To quote Thomas Freedman, the Internet is “a global platform that allowed more people to plug and play, collaborate and compete, share knowledge and share work, than anything we have ever seen in the history of the world.” Through ongoing communication and collaboration, Team Nepal even hopes to create a wiki and a listserv as a means of providing an online space for cultural competency to be discussed. We hope that our success can pave the road for other projects to use technology in a purposeful way in education.
